Paulo J. S. Cruz is Full Professor of Construction and Technology at the School of Architecture of the University of Minho, Guimarães Portugal. Pro-Rector of the University of Minho since 2017. President of the International Association of Structures and Architecture. President of the Design Institute of Guimarães. Vice-President of the Guimarães Landscape Laboratory. Director of Landscapes, Heritage and Territory Laboratory R&D unit (2015-2017). President of the School of Architecture of the University of Minho (2004-2011).  Head of the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Minho (2003-2004). PhD in Civil Engineering by the Technical University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain (1995). MSc in Structural Engineering by the University of Porto, Portugal (1991). Graduated in Civil Engineering by the University of Porto, Portugal (1987). Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Architecture, Structures and Construction, Springer.

Prof. Cruz bridges the gap between architecture and structural engineering, exploring innovative technological, constructional and structural solutions and establishing effective collaborations with the construction industry. Aims to explore the integration of digital additive manufacturing techniques in the architectural design and production processes of ceramic elements for building envelopes.

Bruno Figueiredo is Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Minho, his research is centred on the use of digital tools in architecture, encompassing the development of generative and analytical computational models and digital fabrication in architectural design processes, namely the implementation and control of additive manufacturing techniques. PhD in Construction and Technology (EAUM, 2016), supported by a scholarship from the Foundation of Science and Technology for studies carried out at MIT (Design Computation Group, 2012).

Paulo Mendonça is Associate Professor of Construction and Technology at the School of Architecture of the University of Minho, Guimarães Portugal. Coordinator of the Design and Technology Research Group (2015-2018). President of the School of Architecture of the University of Minho (2011-2012). Vice-President of the School of Architecture of the University of Minho (2010-2011).  PhD in Civil Engineering by the University of Minho (2005). MSc in Textile Engineering by the University of Minho (1995). Graduated in Architecture by the University of Porto, Portugal (1994).

Since 1995, during his MSc thesis he started in the specialization field of “Architectural Membranes”, progressively devoting his research interests to the area of Building Physics especially in what concerns sustainable and innovative strategies and solutions for buildings construction and rehabilitation. The main research subjects include lightweight and mixed weight buildings, energy efficient envelopes, new materials and technologies in design and construction of the built environment.
